Abstract

Conservative lower eyelid plastic surgery has been gaining supporters in the specialty. The "non-touch technique" has become a common expression when dealing with this topic. This is because the main complications of cosmetic blepharoplasty occur in the lower eyelid, especially ectropion. In this study, we propose a single minimally invasive intervention associated or not with surgical blepharoplasty. We use electrocautery with a thin tip in a checkered design with three to five mm distance. The method was indicated in 43 patients, predominantly female, with mean age of 56 years. In some cases, the stippling was expanded on the face with or without a facelift. The improvement in the clinical appearance, especially in the topography of the lower eyelid, the absence of complications, the rapid recovery and the low cost justify the indication of the technique, especially in lower blepharoplasty. It makes it an effective alternative to laser or plasma with a similar purpose.
