IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON THE TREATMENT OF PATIENTS WITH CLEFT PALATE IN A REFERENCE CENTER

The coronavirus pandemic has seriously impacted the surgical scenario in public health in Brazil. Elective surgical procedures were greatly affected due to the reallocation of resources and lack of beds. Among the elective surgeries postponed or canceled due to the pandemic is primary cleft palate repair. It, according to studies, has an ideal period, around 12 months, to be performed to ensure the best speech development [5]. This study reports the average delay time that patients with cleft palate had in their treatments due to the covid-19 pandemic between March 2020 and March 2022 in a reference center.
