Abstract

Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is an uncommon inflammatory dermatosis with accumulation of neutrophils in the skin. In postoperative PG, which appears at the surgical site within two weeks, the onset symptoms are erythema, disproportionate pain on examination, dehiscence, or punctate ulcerations that coalesce into ulcers. Objective To present a clinical case of a patient who developed PG lesions at the surgical site after liposuction. Method Case report of PG at a surgical site Result After the appearance of the lesions, the patient was hospitalized and systemic antibiotics and volume replacement were started. Vacuum dressing was performed for wound management. Corticosteroid pulse therapy was performed and, later, immunobiological therapy was used. It showed a favorable evolution. Conclusion Although rare, PG should be part of the plastic surgeon's diagnostic arsenal in any intervention complicated with ulcers, considering to star treatment as soon as possible and avoid morbidity.
