Abstract

The nose is a part of the face that is very affected by cutaneous neoplasms due to cumulative sun exposure.  Nasal reconstruction is challenging due to the central and prominent position of the nose, with great aesthetic and functional importance.  This is a retrospective descriptive study, case series type, through the review of medical records.  Fourteen patients underwent nasal reconstruction, with a mean age of 67 years.  The most used flap was the frontal flap in 42% of the patients;  followed by nasolabial (28%) and Rintala (14%). When choosing the type of reconstruction, the surgeon must consider the nasal subunits affected and have as main objectives the maintenance of a similar skin tone in the coverage, besides of restructure nasal support in order to avoid airway stenosis.  Local flaps continue to be a valuable tool and it is important that the plastic surgeon is aware of the most varied techniques.
