CASE REPORT OF A PATIENT WITH RHINOPHYMA TREATED WITH A HIGH FREQUENCY EQUIPMENT IN A TERTIARY HOSPITAL

Introduction: the rhinophyma, also known as hyperplastic nasal elephantiasis or acne, has been described since the time of Hippocrates. It is an inflammation of the nose tissues, presenting nasal irregular exophytic growth with the presence of telangiectasias. It characterized by hypertrophy of sebaceous glands in the proliferation of fibrovascular dermis with acanthosis epithelium. Objective: Present clinical case of a patient with the disease operated in a Tertiary Hospital by the plastic surgery service with use of high-frequency equipment. Method: patient case report with rhinophyma operated in a Tertiary Hospital. Result: the surgical result was satisfactory, with very short recovery period. Conclusion: the aesthetic of the nose result was successful with respect to patient satisfaction. The resection of the nasal tissue remained enough nasal anatomy.
