AVALIAÇÃO DA QUALIDADE DO SONO POR MEIO DO ÍNDICE DE QUALIDADE DE SONO DE PITTSBURGH EM PACIENTES COM DOENÇA PULMONAR OBSTRUTIVA CRÔNICA

Introdução: A doença pulmonar obstrutiva crônica (DPOC) destaca-se entre as principais causas de morbidade e mortalidade no Brasil e a prevalência de sintomas noturnos e de distúrbios do sono, porém, frequentemente passam despercebidos por médicos, ou não são relatados pelos próprios pacientes.Objetivo: Avaliar a qualidade do sono em pacientes com DPOC e explorar possíveis associações, como a gravidade da doença e as características sociodemográficas desses pacientes.Métodos: Estudo transversal realizado no ambulatório de pneumologia de um hospital universitário do sul do Brasil. O grau de dispneia foi mensurado pela escala Medical Research Council modificada (mMRC), ao passo que o impacto clínico da foi mensurado pelo COPD Assessment Test (CAT) e a avaliação da qualidade do sono foi realizada por meio da escala Índice de Qualidade de Sono de Pittsburgh (PSQI).Resultados: Participaram desse estudo 52 indivíduos com média de idade de 65,9 (DP=9,9) anos, sendo a maioria do sexo masculino (63,5%). Verificou-se uma pobre qualidade do sono em 67,3% dos participantes (PSQI ? 5). Foi encontrada associação estatisticamente significativa entre os escores globais da PSQI e a gravidade da DPOC (p ajustado = 0,009). A variável sexo associou-se à má qualidade do sono (p = 0,014). Não foram encontradas associações significativas com as demais variáveis estudadas. Houve correlação moderada entre o escore do PSQI e o CAT (?= 0,51). Conclusão: A maioria dos pacientes com DPOC, notadamente as mulheres, exibem pobre qualidade de sono que independe do grau de obstrução ao fluxo aéreo.
