A TEORIA DA MENTE NA ERA DAS MÍDIAS DIGITAIS E O QUE MUDOU COM A PANDEMIA DA COVID-19

Resumo

Cognição social, uma capacidade neurocognitiva fundamental, refere-se ao processamento de informação social e inclui habilidades como a detecção das emoções alheias e a capacidade em responder adequadamente a essas. O prejuízo da cognição social pode apresentar-se como um déficit na Teoria da Mente, que se refere a nossa habilidade de entender o estado mental dos outros e perceber que este estado mental pode diferir do nosso próprio. A Teoria da Mente é reconhecida como um marco fundamental no desenvolvimento social de crianças em diversas culturas. O bom desenvolvimento da mesma é importante para que relações interpessoais sejam estabelecidas e mantidas; elas são fundamentais ao convívio em sociedade. Crianças que compreendem melhor sinais emocionais podem desenvolver melhores habilidades e experiências sociais. No mundo moderno, a introdução ao uso de telas (televisão, smartphones, etc.) vem ocorrendo gradativamente mais precoce, já aos quatro meses de idade e, com frequência, as crianças excedem o número máximo de horas preconizado pela Organização Mundial da Saúde diante das telas. Como crianças possuem grande susceptibilidade às influências ambientais, tornam-se vulneráveis ao mundo virtual. O presente estudo é uma revisão narrativa visando investigar o impacto do uso das telas no desenvolvimento cognitivo social, em especial, na Teoria da Mente. Como as mídias sociais alcançam dois bilhões de usuários, ou seja, um terço da população mundial, até mesmo um pequeno impacto na Teoria da Mente pelo uso das mídias digitais seria decisivo para mudanças nos relacionamentos sociais. O uso de telas foi associado ao comprometimento da Teoria da Mente.
