Abstract

Introduction: this study evaluated the change in the profile of trauma mechanisms and types of injuries in patients treated by the Plastic Surgery sector at a trauma referral hospital in Curitiba (PR)

Methods: We included 628 patients who had suffered trauma injuries and underwent surgical treatment from March 2018 to February 2021. Patients were divided into pre-pandemic and pandemic subgroups, and compared in terms of mechanism, location and type of injury. Results: no statist variation was identified in the number, age group or gender of the operated patients. In the pandemic, there was an increase in the frequency of aggression (5.7%), facial fractures (9.8%) and pressure injuries (1.9%). On the other hand, there was a reduction in direct trauma (9.7%) and lower limb trauma (10%). Conclusion: It is possible to observe, therefore, a change in the epidemiological profile of traumas treated at the service without a significant reduction in the number of occurrences.

Augmentation mammoplasty in transgender patients is a technical challenge, so planning must be careful to obtain good results.
